How to view TallyPrime data on your mobile: four ways compared
Last updated 5 November 2026 · 4 min read
Most TallyPrime books live on one Windows PC in the office. To see them on your phone, you can reach that PC remotely, get reports out of it, move TallyPrime to a hosted server, or sync the data to the cloud and use an app. Owners who want to check cash, receivables and sales during the day, and staff who need to enter sales on the move, are usually served by a sync service. An accountant who wants TallyPrime’s own screens from home may prefer remote access.
TallyPrime is a trademark of Tally Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Auditer is an independent product and is not affiliated with Tally Solutions.
Four ways compared
| Method | How it works | Suits | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remote desktop | An app on your phone controls the office PC | Occasional checks by one person | Small screen; the PC must stay on; one user at a time; full access to the PC |
| Exported reports | Your accountant sends PDFs or spreadsheets | Monthly reviews | Out of date quickly; manual work; no drill-down |
| TallyPrime on a hosted server | TallyPrime runs on a rented cloud server and you log in remotely | Several branches working on one set of books | Monthly server cost; desktop screens on a phone; licence terms to check |
| A sync service | An agent on the Tally PC syncs data to the cloud, shown in a web portal and mobile apps | Owners, sales staff and teams who need dashboards and entries on the move | Data is as fresh as the last sync; new data needs the Tally PC on and online |
Your TallyPrime licence may also include browser access to some reports. Ask your Tally partner what yours covers.
What to check before you choose
Security
- Where is the data stored, and is it in India?
- Is data protected in transit, and are backups encrypted?
- How do people sign in: one-time codes, a PIN, or a shared password?
- Can you limit each person to certain companies, parties or godowns, and hide figures such as bank balances or margins?
- Can you remove a person’s access in one step when they leave?
Entries back into TallyPrime
- Can staff create invoices, orders and receipts on the phone?
- Do those entries reach TallyPrime as normal vouchers, with your own numbering?
- If an entry fails, can you see its status and retry it without creating a duplicate?
Offline behaviour
- What do you see when the Tally PC is switched off?
- Do new entries wait and post later, or are they lost?
Companies, years and people
- Can you switch between several companies and financial years?
- How does the price change when you add people, companies or entries?
Step by step with Auditer
- Sign up on the web portal at app.auditer.com, or in the Android or iOS app, with your mobile number. A one-time code arrives on WhatsApp, and new accounts get 10 free credits.
- Install the Auditer Agent on the Windows PC that runs TallyPrime, from the download page.
- Open TallyPrime and load your company.
- Pair the PC with your workspace. The Agent shows a 6-digit pairing code, valid for 10 minutes; enter it in the web portal or the app.
- Choose companies and financial years. The first sync starts on its own. Turn on Auto Sync to sync every 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
- Open the dashboards on your phone: cash, bank, receivables, payables, sales and more.
- Invite your team with roles and data access. Each member beyond the Owner needs a seat.
The getting started guide covers each step in detail, and the mobile page shows what the apps do.
What changes for your accountant
Very little. Your accountant keeps working in TallyPrime, and the Tally company file stays the books of record. Entries made in Auditer arrive in TallyPrime as vouchers through the Agent, and numbering can follow your TallyPrime series. If the Tally PC is off, those entries wait and post when it is back. Each entry’s status, pending, posted or failed, is visible in Auditer, so nobody has to guess whether it reached the books.
Example: the owner of an auto parts dealership in Chennai checks receivables on his phone at 8 am, before the office opens. His sales executive creates an order at a garage in Ambattur at 11 am. When the accountant opens TallyPrime after lunch, the order is already there.
If your data does not show up
Most problems have simple causes. Check in this order:
- The workspace is paired. Until the Agent is paired, the web portal and the app show a demo company.
- TallyPrime is open with the company loaded, and the Agent shows Tally as connected. TallyPrime’s port (9000 by default) must match the port set in the Agent.
- The company and financial year are selected in the Agent’s company list. A new financial year is not added on its own; tick it under Edit Years.
- A sync has finished. Click Sync Now on the Agent and wait for the success message.
- You picked the same company and year on the phone. Pull down to refresh.
Entries shown as pending are waiting for the Tally PC. They post when it is back online with TallyPrime open.
How Auditer helps
The Auditer Agent syncs the TallyPrime companies you choose, including masters, vouchers, stock and GST details, to Auditer’s cloud on AWS in Mumbai, and you see them on the web portal and the Android and iOS apps. Entries your team creates in Auditer are written back into TallyPrime through the Agent. When the Tally PC is offline you still see the last synced data, and new entries wait until it is back. Viewing data, syncing, reports and dashboards are free; see Tally sync and Security.
