Why Auditer charges for what you use, not for features

Small businesses often pay for modules they never open. How Auditer's usage-based credits work, what is free, and three worked examples with real numbers.

Auditer charges for what you do, not for a plan. You pay when you post an entry to TallyPrime, share a PDF, send a message or generate an e-invoice or e-way bill, plus a seat for each team member beyond the Owner. Viewing your books, syncing, reports and dashboards cost nothing. We chose this model because plan-based pricing often makes small and mid-sized businesses pay for software they do not use.

The problem with plans and bundles

Business software is usually sold in one of two ways: a fee for each user, or a plan that bundles modules together. Both are simple to buy. Both can be poor value for a small business.

  • You pay for modules you never open. A pharma distributor in Indore needs e-way bills and payment reminders. The plan that includes e-way bills also includes manufacturing, payroll and job costing, so the distributor pays for all of them.
  • You pay full price for people who only look. In many per-user plans, a partner who checks the figures once a week costs as much as the billing clerk who uses the software all day.
  • You pay for the peak in quiet months. A firecracker wholesaler near Sivakasi does most of the year’s billing in the weeks before Diwali, yet a fixed plan charges the same in June.
  • One feature forces an upgrade. The day you need e-invoicing, the next plan up can double the bill.

How credits work

  • ₹1 buys 1 credit, plus 18% GST.
  • Every new account gets 10 free credits, enough for 100 entries posted to TallyPrime.
  • Purchased credits are valid for 24 months.
  • The Owner buys credits in the web portal. Every chargeable action in the workspace is paid from them, whoever does it.
Action Credits
Each additional team member 100 a month
Entry posted to TallyPrime 0.10
Document shared as PDF 0.10, once per document
E-invoice or e-way bill 2, returned if the portal refuses
Turning on e-invoice, e-way bill or GST returns for a company 100 each, once
WhatsApp, email or SMS message 1, 0.5 or 0.5
Extra workspace 1,000, once

There is one fixed part, and we want to be clear about it. Each team member beyond the Owner uses a seat at 100 credits a month, whether they view or create. The Owner’s seat is free, and staff who work only in TallyPrime and never log in to Auditer need no seat.

What is free

  • Viewing data, on the web and on the phone
  • Syncing with TallyPrime
  • Reports and dashboards
  • AI insights, which narrate the month’s numbers
  • The Help Center and the Ask Auditer assistant
  • Push and in-app alerts
  • The payment reminder feature itself (each message is charged by channel)
  • The Owner’s seat

Three worked examples

1. An owner on their own

A hardware shop owner in Coimbatore has an accountant who works only in TallyPrime at the shop. The owner uses Auditer alone, on his phone. He views the dashboards every day (free), shares 80 invoice PDFs a month (8 credits) and sends 60 WhatsApp reminders (60 credits).

Total: 68 credits a month, about ₹816 a year plus GST. Without the reminders, it would be 8 credits a month.

2. An owner with two staff

A steel trader in Bengaluru adds a sales executive and an accountant to Auditer. Together they create 300 entries a month and share 150 PDFs.

Item Credits a month
2 seats × 100 200
300 entries × 0.10 30
150 PDFs × 0.10 15
Total 245

About ₹2,940 a year plus GST, before messages and compliance documents.

3. A CA firm with six clients’ books

A CA firm in Pune keeps the books of six clients in TallyPrime on its office PC, so one workspace holds all six companies. The partner is the Owner, and four staff are members. Staff do most data entry directly in TallyPrime, which costs nothing, and post 250 entries a month through Auditer when they work from client sites. They share 120 PDFs a month and turn on GST returns for all six companies.

Item Credits
4 seats × 100 400 a month
250 entries × 0.10 25 a month
120 PDFs × 0.10 12 a month
GST returns for 6 companies × 100 600, once

437 credits a month, or 5,844 credits in the first year including the one-time 600. That is about ₹5,844 plus GST, or under ₹1,000 per client for the year.

If each client keeps TallyPrime on its own PC instead, each client has its own workspace, and the firm’s staff join as members. Seats are then paid from each client’s workspace.

How to estimate your own cost

  1. Count the people, apart from the Owner, who will log in.
  2. Estimate the entries you will create in Auditer each month, not the total vouchers in TallyPrime.
  3. Estimate the PDFs shared and the messages sent, by channel.
  4. Add e-invoices, e-way bills and any one-time activations.
  5. Put the numbers into the pricing calculator, and compare them with your actual usage after the first month.

When this is not the cheapest option

If you have a large team and send thousands of WhatsApp messages every month, a flat plan may cost less. Work out both with your own numbers. We would rather you decide with the arithmetic in front of you than be surprised later. For a general comparison, read what usage-based pricing is and when it costs less.

How Auditer helps

The Owner can see credit usage, transactions and invoices under Billing & Credits on the web portal. If credits run out, viewing and syncing carry on, and only paid actions wait for a recharge. Because seeing your books is free, you can connect TallyPrime and judge Auditer on your own numbers before you spend much. To get set up, follow the getting started guide.

Entries posted to TallyPrime (0.10 credit), documents shared as PDF (0.10), e-invoices and e-way bills (2 each), messages (WhatsApp 1, email 0.5, SMS 0.5), one-time activations, and 100 credits a month for each team member beyond the Owner.

Viewing data, syncing with TallyPrime, reports, dashboards, AI insights, the Help Center, push and in-app alerts, and the payment reminder feature itself. The Owner's seat is free too.

How do I buy Auditer credits?
